Meet Jason

Musical Background

Jason has been a musician about as long as he's been alive. His first love was singing and playing the piano, which he started learning at age 6. He grew up singing in church at an a capella church of Christ in Dallas, TX, where his dad was a deacon and song leader.

Jason sang in the choir and played in the band all through school, and he excelled at singing, playing the keyboard, and playing the trombone. He got a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Oklahoma Christian University in 2008.

Jason was a high school band and guitar teacher in Wauchula, Florida for six years, where he picked up guitar playing. He started writing songs while a music major at OC, and has developed a catalog of original music ranging in style from Christian Worship to country to funky blues-rock. All of his music has a relaxed groove that matches his laid-back personality.

While in Wauchula, Jason became a familiar face performing at community events, festivals, restaurants and parties. He also played regularly for church praise bands in Hardee County.

Now in Slanesville, West Virginia, Jason serves as Minister of Worship and Discipleship at Hope Christian Church Augusta, where he leads Sunday morning worship services and heads the Life Groups for the church.

Personal Life

Jason has been blessed with a beautiful family: his lovely wife Melody, and their four young boys (three of whom are featured in the Normal Guy music video!). They live in Slanesville, West Virginia.

Jason grew up in Carrollton, Texas and has been involved in church his whole life. After graduating from Oklahoma Christian University, he took a brief 7-year hiatus from performing and teaching music, during which he and Melody got married, moved to Florida for Melody's work, and had their first baby. Jason then returned to first love, music, by getting his Florida teacher's certification and starting to teach music at Hardee Senior High School in Wauchula.

Jason loved teaching high school students (most days), and tried to have as big an impact on his students' lives as his band directors had on his. He also loves writing music and performing, so he does both of those as often as he has the chance! He now leads worship every Sunday morning at Hope Christian Church in Augusta, West Virginia, where he and his family moved in the summer of 2021.

Jason's desire is to support his family and to do good in the world through writing and performing music while partnering with Christian charities and missions organizations. He partnered with SendMeMissions in Wauchula, FL to help raise money for local and international missions, and part of the revenue from his musical endeavors also goes to supporting Rapha International, the Annunciation House, and Care Portal
